House of the Dead, Overkill Extended Cut for the Playstation 3. I have quite a bit to say about this game, but let's begin with the storyline on the game.
First, the characters of the game. Isaac Washington, Agent G, Varla Guns, and Candi Stryper. The story is, Isaac Washington and Agent G meet, and work together in finding Papa Caesar, (he's the main villian in the game). Along the way, they run into Varla Guns and all three characters want Caesar dead. I won't go to in-depth of the story for spoiler reasons, but the story itself is not that good and you can't rely on it at all in hopes of it making up for the game being good. The game is played out almost like a movie; with squiggly lines and random flashes during cut-scenes make the game look like an old, cheesy horror / slasher flick. It is a nice touch no-doubt, but the novelty kind of wears off after a while with the cheesy cut-scenes and humor, and the over-usage of the F word. Since I'm on the topic now; we'll talk about the profanity and suggestive content in the game. If this game was any worse, I would think it would have been rated A-O. (Adults only). To be put simply, this is the most profane, disgusting, morally wrong, video game I have EVER played. (And some might even say that's an understatement.) Cosider that a warning if you're easily offended or grossed out and have been considering picking up a copy of the game. The F word is used so much in this game that it seems like the word doesn't even make sense anymore. Which, there is nothing wrong with that; I won't judge a game because of how much they use the F word in it. However, there is some explicit dialouge between the characters in the game and in some of the Audio Tracks on the game as well. No one under the age of 16 should play this game.

Now for the gameplay. The game itself is pretty fun; and those who enjoy classic, arcade rail shooters will love this game. This has to be one of the best console-based rail shooters of all time. Not saying that it's an amazing game, but there isn't a whole lot of competition in that area of gaming. The game is very short (only about ten levels) but it offers three mini-games plus a director's cut version. The director's cut is all the same levels as regular story mode, but they are extended (sometimes) greatly by the game taking you into areas cut out of the regular version. Also, you do NOT need the Playstation Move to play this game. In fact, the PS3 wireless controller is more accurate with moving / aiming. This is because of the connectivity / and having to calibrate the playstation move before using it. Using the joystick though will take some getting used to as there is no adjusting the sensitivity. There are only about seven guns on the game. The only way to collect in-game cash to upgrade and purchase weapons is by shooting small piles of it through-out the levels. This proves to be very difficult, because of the size of the item and how shortly they remain on screen. This applies to ALL collectibles you can shoot through-out the levels.
Overall, we have a decent arcade game that provides quick fun, (if you can get past the gore and profanity, that is.) but has low replayability value. In my personal opinion, this is a game you play through a few levels with your friends, and then put back up on the shelf for another time. I have no real sense of dedication to it or desire to continue playing it in hopes of unlocking new stuff... which there isn't a whole lot to unlock.
